Broken Road was a Santa Cruz,CA based (mostly) progressive rock band spanning 1973 through 1980 consisting primarily of Jon Jiles (guitar, vocals), Otis Coen (keyboards-vocals), Evan Jiles (bass), and Doug Thigpen (drums/percussion). More often than not including Steve Bayard (guitar, vocals) and later, Eric Maxwell (drums- 1979-80).

The Broken Road EP, released in 1978, received strong air play on local SF and Monterey Bay area stations KOME, KSJO, and KDON.

Broken Road won the Good Times Best of Santa Cruz poll in 1979 and while Evan, Otis and Jon continued to work on various projects together, Broken Road ended their run in late 1980.
